New Garbage Carts Coming to Carlisle

2023 Garbage Cart Update

The City of Carlisle is dedicated to enhancing services provided to residents. Beginning in July, our garbage hauler will switch to Waste Connections. To provide this service, the city is closely working with Metro Waste Authority.

By working with Metro Waste Authority, residents will be able to call one place for assistance with trash, recycling, and yard waste.

In late June, existing garbage carts will be swapped out for new, brown carts. The new garbage carts will be delivered the week of June 19. This cart will be the same size as your current cart.

Please continue using your original garbage cart until your collection on June 27, when it will be removed. You may begin using the new, brown cart as soon as your existing cart is removed.

What does this mean for you?
Residents will not notice a significant change to weekly garbage collection. Collection will continue to occur on Tuesdays, and carts should be set at the curb by 6:00 AM.

However, to dispose of items that will not fit in your cart, it will now require orange Metro Waste Authority stickers.

If you have extra bags or boxes of trash, a $1 extra trash sticker will be needed for disposal. Most large household items require a $5 sticker, while appliances require seven $5 stickers.

Simply place the extra trash or large item, with the appropriate stickers, at the curb on your regular collection day. Calling ahead is only required for disposal of appliances.

Stickers are sold at many metro retailers and grocery stores. Stickers can also be purchased on Metro Waste Authority’s website.
