May 21, 2024 Tornado Response Update

On Tuesday, May 21, 2024, city staff responded to numerous calls for service and damage caused by a tornado and related severe weather. Police Chief Matt Koch and Fire Chief Cory Glover opened the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) at the police department and begin coordinating with public works and our municipal electric utility to respond to a significant number of weather-related issues and perform a systematic assessment of the damage across the community. City Administrator Deven Markley created an initial report on the disaster response for the public. Staff is working on reviewing the incident to identify improvements for future response to emergencies and natural disasters. Please see the entire letter with the initial at the link below.
